Voting

Question How do I vote on designs?

To vote for designs, you need to join the MyPlanetStuff community, navigate to the 'Vote on Designs' section and begin scoring. Score each design on a scale of 1-5 (5 being the best). There is a checkbox when voting to 'I'd buy it.' This is simply a tool we use to gauge the response to the designs, not a commitment to actually purchase if it wins.

:: Back To Top ::

Question How are designs chosen for printing?

We choose a design to print based on scores, comments, and the number of "I'd buy its". Ultimately the decisions of which products get printed are left up to MPS. The scoring system helps give us a general idea of which designs our community wants to buy.

The Environmental Protection Agency considers seven of the top 15 pesticides used on cotton in the United States as "possible," "likely," "probable," or "known" human carcinogens (acephate, dichloropropene, diuron, fluometuron, pendimethalin, tribufos, and trifluralin). (Source: EPA) In the US, it takes about 1/3 of a pound of pesticides and herbicides to grow enough conventional cotton for just one T-shirt. So, in short, why wouldn't you keep it clean and green and use organics whenever possible.

Question Why recycled cotton?

100% Recycled bags are uniquely manufactured with a process that saves land, energy and water. According to the Council for Textile Recycling, 25,000 tons of new textile fiber is disposed of by North American spinning mills, weavers and fabric manufacturers each year. Technology now exists to make new cotton yarn from gin waste, commercial fabric trimmings and mills ends. Recycled cotton is recovered cotton that would be wasted during the spinning, weaving and cutting processes. Up to 40% of cotton grown is wasted between the harvest and the manufacture of garments. In the past, this waste went directly into landfills.

:: Back To Top ::

Question Why canvas vs. polypropylene?

Canvas cotton bags are recyclable, functional, reusable and reliable for many years. Polypropylene bags cannot be made from recycled material; they tear easily, are inexpensive and therefore can be perceived as a disposable item. They often find their way into the landfills next to the paper and plastic.
